Tom Zawistowski, president of the We the People Convention, is continuing his call on President-elect Donald Trump to issue a pardon to political prisoners who were convicted on charges related to the January 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol.
Trump has vowed to pardon individuals accused or convicted of charges relating to January 6, telling Time magazine in December 2024 that pardons will begin “in the first hour” of him being inaugurated later this month on January 20.
On Monday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show, Zawistowski urged Americans to continue speaking out on why Trump must issue pardons for those accused and convicted.
“Not enough people understand – the [Democrats] have got the propaganda, they’ve got the talking points about ‘the insurrection,’ etc. But there was no insurrection. There was a political protest,” Zawistowski explained.
Zawistowski said the more people speak out in favor of the pardons will begin to change the narrative surrounding January 6.
“The government incited people to defend themselves…[Americans] have not heard the story of January 6 yet. What they’ve heard is misinformation propaganda. We’re going to investigate, and when the truth comes out, all of history will know that this was a coup and the ‘insurrection’ was a cover-up of the coup,” Zawistowski said.
Noting how upwards of 1,600 individuals have been charged in connection to the January 6 protest, with almost 1,100 having already been sentenced, Zawistowski described the treatment of those accused and convicted as simply “unjust.”
“If you did something that deserved a penalty, you’ve already served that penalty. Some of these people have been in prison for four years without a trial. They’ve never been in front of a judge. How was that equal justice? How was that swift justice? That’s torture,” Zawistowski said.
“The number of people in solitary confinement, people denied their medications, people beaten by guards. This is a stain on our country’s history. I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, I think this was the worst thing the U.S. government has done since the internment of the Japanese Americans in World War II,” Zawistowski added.

ALL J6 POLITICAL HOSTAGES NOT ONLY SHOULD BE PARDONED, BUT they should be allowed to sue the DOJ, Prosecutors & Judges & Board of Prisons for having their Civil Rights violated. They should also get restitution for their emotional & financial losses.
There was unconstitutional & inhumane treatment of these individuals. Enrique Tarrio, head of Proud Boys, received a 22 year sentence, & he was nowhere near DC on J6. Some were held in jail for years with no hearing. Some were denied medical care & forced to eat rotten food. If they complained, they were put in solitary confinement for months, with no showers, no access to attorneys & no access to family. It’s inhumane how they were treated.
The DOJ & Media labeled the Proud Boys & the Oathkeepers as White Supremacists, when that so untrue. Members were primarily retired military special forces, green berets, etc as well as law enforcement.
There were people who created some violence & damage. They were Federal Operatives (Confidential Human Resources), as they’re referred to by the FBI. CHRs are usually persons who have committed crimes & agree to “cooperate” with the FBI rather than serve time. So they actually are recruited to commit crimes. They were probably Antifa & BLM who burned many cities in 2020 in a psyop reaction to the death of a Black Criminal G Floyd. Floyd was NOT murdered according to the MN medical examiner, but the media was encouraged to report his death as a murder by a white cop, when actually 4 cops were involved in his arrest of various ethnicities.
J6 was a Fedsurrection designed to create a Coups to prevent any challenges to the rigged 2020 Presidential election.
It’s my hope that Nancy Pelosi who turned down Trumps offer to provide National Guard for crowd control, & her fake J6 Committee are prosecuted & put in prison for all the chaos , destruction & the murder of two unarmed women who were legal protesters. One was Ashli Babbitt Veteran, cwho was shot & killed by Black Capitol Police Officer Michael Byrd. The shooting was never provoked or investigated. Also, RoseAnne Boyle was beaten with a stick by a female Black cop as she lay unconscious. Both of these murders are on video, but no one has been held accountable.
TIME FOR RETRIBUTION.
I agree. How many more Tennesseans are being held without due process, for over a year because of being seen at the event (not an insurrection)? The only Jan 6, casualty was an unarmed military veteran, shot point-blank in the lobby by a capital police officer.
